General FAQ’s

General Frequently Asked Questions

These are a collection of FAQ's that may have already been answered elsewhere on the site, but none-the-less are sometimes missed. We've compiled the most frequent of those questions and made them available for an answer here. We will also include helpful links that you can use in regards to each of these questions.

Rescue Procedures

How long does the adoption process take?
We typically take about two (2) weeks to complete an adoption. It may also take longer if we get a large quantity of application for a particular dog or are outside of the adoption area. Please note that we do not adopt dogs out from December 20 to 26.

Do you adopt outside of the adoption area?
This does happen occasionally, but the adoption process becomes slightly more complicated. It requires additional resources for home visits and reference checks. Please note that preference will be given to applications that are received within the adoption area as well.

Who sees information I provide the rescue?
The only individuals that may see information provided on our adoption application would be members of our Board of Directors and particular trained volunteers who are directly involved in the adoption, including the foster parent of the dog you are wishing to adopt.

How can I set up a meet and greet with a dog?
To reduce stress of our dogs, we do not simply allow any individual to meet a dog in their temporary foster home. Instead, you must submit an application for the dog you are wishing to meet. Please note that submitting an application neither guarantees nor requires you to adopt the dog and you may opt out at any time.

Rescue Know-How

How do you ensure your dogs are in good homes?
K9 Kindness Rescue has a very lengthy adoption process which is designed to heavily examine information of a potential adopter. We take extra time to meet with potential adopters to answer questions and have them meet the dog that they are interested in. Our adoption team is trained to check both personal and veterinary references as well as perform home visit checks with prospective applicants. We may also include background checks at random. The primary goal is to make sure we fit the dog with the best possible adopter, and that each is compatible with each other.

What items are accepted for donation?
In addition to monetary donations (which usually help us the most due to extreme vet bills), we accept donations in the form of:
  • Unopened edibles/perishables (Food & Treats)
  • Unused beds
  • Unused tethers, collars and leashes
  • Unused toys
  • Unused or gently used kennels and crates
We also accept donations of raffle items (for larger events) such as gift baskets, small gift items (large gift items are usually specifically requested for), or gift certificates. None of these items should be previously used.
