Introducing Our New Board and New Website!

Dear K9 Krew,

It was 13 years ago, on April 30, 2004, that K9 Kindness came to be.  Since that time, we have rescued and placed over 1200 dogs, a few cats, a couple of ferrets and a cockatiel and guinea pig into loving forever homes.  As with any organization or business we always want to look at where we have been, where we are, and where we want to go in our rescue mission.

MEET THE BOARD!!!

It gives me great pleasure to proudly announce our new Board of Directors for K9 Kindness. A longtime volunteer, Katey Bignall has stepped into the dual roles of Vice President & Treasurer.  Katey handles all the money and all the books.  She is also on our Adoption Team, posts our internet listings on Petfinder.com and Adopt a Pet, and fosters for us.  Katey works at Augustana College as the Assistant Director of Student Life and Leadership and Director of Greek Life.   She lives in Rock Island with her husband, Nate, and 3 dogs, Brock (a K9 Kindness alum), Sniper and Mimi.

Kris Taylor is a former adopter, who decided to volunteer with us late last fall.  She brings a wealth of knowledge with her and is our Secretary.  Kris also takes care of RescueGroups.org, and our mass emails.  She will be doing our newsletter and maintains the animal listings on our website.  Kris is an Administrator for the East Moline School District.  She lives in Bettendorf with her husband, Kyle, daughters Katie and Chloe, nephew Dakota, and Labrador Retrievers, Hank & Roxie.

I am the President of K9 Kindness.  A retired band director for the Davenport Community School District, I also taught at Trinity Lutheran School for 10 years prior to Davenport.  I was a founding member of K9 Kindness Rescue on April 30, 2004.  As president, I oversee training and integration of new volunteers, foster homes, intake and adoption of all animals, and answering all phone messages and emails.  I make sure that we have all the proper paperwork for the State of Iowa, and all the necessary licenses and comply with the IRS on our non-profit status.  I live in Davenport with my youngest son (our webmaster) Michael Fraker, and our 3 dogs, Kano, Tanner and Gunner.

We are currently looking for someone to chair or co-chair a fundraising committee. This person (or these people) would overseeing fundraisers, and finding people to be in charge of specific events.  If you are interested, please contact one of the Board Members!

And now, we are introducing our new and completely remodeled website at https://www.k9kindnessrescue.org, as well as our brand new logo, courtesy of Nehlsen Communications, Moline.

We are ready to move forward into the future, with an incredible Board, and some equally incredible volunteers!  We welcome comments and friendly feedback at any time, and want to encourage all our volunteers to get involved!  There is a need for everyone and we value every person who volunteers with us.

So, look around our new website, and if you have not already done so, please join us as we save our wonderful, 4 legged friends!  God bless you all!
